AVRE — Introduction

Wanting to make a positive and sustainable change in the footwear industry is what inspired AVRE to be:

Authentic, Versatile, Responsible, and Empowered.

We initiate sustainable efforts and empower women to take action by being a contributing factor in our lives and for our planet.

With billions of shoes manufactured each year, environmental impacts of the shoe industry pose many threats to our planet from the manufacturing process to the end of the shoe life cycle.

Manufacturing produces large amounts of CO2 (carbon dioxide) that drives climate crisis + global warming as fuel and energy are produced into the atmosphere.

8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. Plastic is not biodegradable and can take centuries to decompose.

During the "decade of action" and growing environmental awareness to reduce carbon footprint, people are looking to be more sustainable-minded.

This is how we
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle…

Our shoes are made of repurposed PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles that are broken down into flakes, melted down to chips, reformulated, and spun into yarn. It is then knitted and becomes AVRE shoes.

Typically shoes are made out of a pattern, cut, assembled, stitched, and glued together. So lots of scraps are leftover which then goes to waste, but with our shoes, our 3D knit-to-shape technology reduces waste by creating precise sizes and eliminating the creation of scraps.

The impact we make…

  • Reduces material waste in production
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • We are able to conserve water and energy in the process
  • Reduce shipping waste by making shoeboxes that are used for shipping to customers and returns

“Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.”
